Sustainability Plan and Future Prospects of City Ports of Brindisi and Igoumenitsa
This volume conceptualizes the strategic infrastructure outputs of the DOCK-BI project, a cross-border initiative funded by the Interreg Greece-Italy Programme designed to modernize port areas and ferry connectivity between Brindisi and Igoumenitsa. The book addresses the critical challenges of poor multimodal accessibility and disjointed transport networks that isolate these vital coastal nodes from their urban hinterlands. Through data-driven sustainability indicators and policy frameworks, the authors outline transformative integration strategies that synchronize commercial shipping logistics with eco-friendly passenger mobility. Ultimately, this research provides a comprehensive blueprint for transitioning competitive Mediterranean gateways into resilient, socio-economically sustainable port-city ecosystems.
