The Future of Mobility 3.0: Reinventing Mobility in the Era of Disruption and Creativity
The Future of Mobility 3.0: Reinventing Mobility in the Era of Disruption and Creativity by François-Joseph Van Audenhove et al. (Arthur D. Little) presents a forward-looking strategic framework for navigating the radical transformation of global urban transport systems. Building upon earlier iterations of mobility evolution, this study addresses how rapid urbanization, digital technologies, emerging business models, and changing consumer behaviors are disrupting traditional transport paradigms, requiring cities and mobility providers to reinvent their ecosystems. The authors evaluate the readiness of global cities to handle future mobility challenges through Arthur D. Little’s proprietary Urban Mobility Index. The report analyzes key disruptive trends—such as Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS), autonomous driving, electrification, shared micro-mobility, and data-driven traffic management—and identifies the widening gap between current urban transport performances and future sustainability demands. To bridge this gap, the study advocates for a strategic transition toward collaborative mobility ecosystems where public transit authorities, private operators, technology firms, and regulators co-create integrated, multi-modal transport networks.
